Prediabetic Symptoms

 What is prediabetes?

Before the development of diabetes, especially type 2, the symptoms of prediabetes appear first. It may also be called "borderline diabetes" or "impaired fasting blood sugar or glucose tolerance." This means that your blood sugar level is higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes and not high enough to be treated.

Prediabetes affects millions of people around the world and, in addition to being a full-blown precursor to diabetes, it has the ability to cause more damage to the heart and circulatory system than diabetes. Still, there are ways to tell if diabetes is developing, and by doing so you can prevent diabetes from taking hold. Preventive measures include a prediabetic diet and a 5% to 7% deep sleep diabetesremedy loss of body weight. Exercise also plays a vital role and should last 30 minutes a day five days a week.

It's not common for people under 45 to get tested for prediabetes, but being overweight is a good idea or if you have a family history of diabetes. There are also other health problems that can contribute to diabetes. Testing should be done about every three years, but if you've been diagnosed with prediabetes, you should have a test every year.

Symptoms
Unfortunately, most people don't know they have prediabetes until they are dangerously close to diabetes. Symptoms of prediabetes include higher than normal blood sugar levels.

However, most people do not have symptoms of prediabetes, but it is scientifically known that, in addition to high blood sugar, unusual thirst, extreme fatigue, frequent urination and blurred vision can be telltale signs. .

In order for your doctor to determine whether or not you have prediabetes, they will perform two different tests. One is called the "fasting blood sugar test" and the other is the "oral glucose test." The fasting blood glucose or FPG test can only be tested after complete abstention from food or beverages other than water, for a period of 8 hours. If your levels are abnormal after this fast, it means that your body cannot properly metabolize glucose.

The oral glucose test measures your response to sugar and is not done until after the FPG test. A glucose solution is given by mouth and after a period of about 2 hours the blood sugar levels are tested. Normal levels are less than 140 mg / dL, while levels between this amount and 199 mg / dL suggest prediabetes. If your levels are above 200 mg / dL, you may have already developed full-blown diabetes.

Who Should Get Tested?
If you are overweight with a body mass index greater than 25
If you have a family history of diabetes.
If you are over 45
If you belong to a high-risk ethnic group that is Native American, African, Pacific Islander, or Latino
If you have delivered a baby who weighs more than 9 pounds
If you have had gestational diabetes
If you have ever had abnormal blood sugar levels
If you have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or high triglycerides or
If you lead a sedentary lifestyle

Prediabetes is a warning sign
Doctors use the term prediabetes to explain the warning signs of diabetes, but they also explain it as an impaired glucose tolerance found in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

It is a mistake to think that because you have a family history of diabetes, you will develop it on your own. Everyone's behavior, lifestyle, and habits are different, which means it can be avoided. Diabetes is not a gene. The key is prevention rather than reaction. Changing your eating and lifestyle habits is not easy and that is why many people blame hereditary factors.

Early symptoms like prediabetes, although alarming, can be misleading. Extreme thirst, excessive fatigue, and frequent urination are possible without risk of diabetes, as these symptoms are also linked to high blood pressure and high cholesterol. However, prevention is better than cure. If you have symptoms, it makes sense to get them checked out. By doing this, you will have peace of mind or a chance to change your lifestyle before diabetes starts.
